1 Workshop Meeting

The Appomattox Town Council held a workshop meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Appomattox Municipal Building, 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia with Mayor Harvey presiding.
Members present: Timothy W. “Timmy” Garrett, Mary Lou Spiggle, N. H. “Jimmy” Mayberry, Steven T. “Steve” Conner and Claudia G. Puckette.
Absent: C. Lewis McDearmon, Jr.
Others: Katrina Koetring, News & Advance; Carlton & Brian, Alive Media TV; Bill Gillespie, Town Manager; and Roxanne Paulette, Clerk of Council.
Mayor Harvey called the meeting to order.
There was a brief discussion concerning the green space at the Municipal Building. Council gave consensus to remove the large evergreen tree and then have the tree board look at the area.
Committee Reports – Finance & Planning Committee has been working on the FY 2014 budget. The budget is set to be advertised on May 1. The general fund expenditures are down 3.7%, water fund down 9.5% and sewer fund rose 1.3% over last year.
The Physical Development Committee also met about the FY 2014 budget.
The FY 2014 Budget for the Town of Appomattox will be advertised next week.
Staff Reports Town Manager - no report.
Town Treasurer – no report.
Roxanne Paulette, Clerk of Council reminded Council of the FFA Alumni invitation on April 25, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the ACHS Ag department for their open house. Also, on April 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. the ACPS will be touring the facilities with area delegates and senators.
Council Concerns Ms. Spiggle wished Mr. McDearmon a speedy recovery.
On a motion by Councilmember Mayberry, seconded by Councilmember Garrett, Council voted to adjourn at 7:15 p.m. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
