1 Regular Council Meeting Monday, March 12, 2012
The Appomattox Town Council held a Regular Council Meeting on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the Appomattox Municipal Building, 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia, with Mayor Harvey presiding.
Members present: Timothy W. “Timmy” Garrett, C. Lewis McDearmon, Mary Lou Spiggle, N.H. “Jimmy” Mayberry, Steven T. “Steve” Conner and Joyce B. Bennett.
Others Present: Cliff Harvey, Benny Harvey, Lucy Harvey, Rodney Longmire, Claudia Puckette, Stephanie James, Carlton Duck and Alive TV Crew, Stacey Wilkes, Town Treasurer; C. William Gillespie, Interim Town Manager and Roxanne W. Paulette, Clerk of Council.
Mayor Harvey called the meeting to order.

Mayor’s Comments Mayor Harvey informed the Council and audience of the Tornado Preparedness Day – March 20, 2012. The siren erected behind Subway will sound as a test at 9:45 a.m. for three minutes.
On a motion by Councilmember Garrett, seconded by Councilmember Mayberry, Council voted to adopt the Consent Agenda for March 12, 2012. All member present voting aye. Motion carried.

New Business
On a motion by Councilmember Garrett, seconded by Councilmember Bennett, Council voted to accept the FY 2011 Audit Report from Brown, Edwards & Company, LLP. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Councilmember Spiggle, seconded by Councilmember McDearmon, Council voted to authorize purchase of software programs for organizational restructuring in the amount of $25,135.00. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Councilmember Garrett, seconded by Councilmember Conner, Council voted to declare the following items surplus equipment – 1980 Ford School Bus, 1987 GMC Diesel 7000 Dump Truck, 2003 Isuzu NQR Sweeper Truck, Hercules Leaf Machine / Model 6800, John Deere 310 B Backhoe, Terex Rubber Tire Loader. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.

On a motion by Councilmember Mayberry, seconded by Councilmember Bennett, Council voted to approve the 2012 Slate of Officers for the Historic Appomattox Railroad Festival. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
Roxanne Paulette, Clerk of Council gave an update on the Tourism Program and Partnership Initiatives for “The Best of the Civil War…The End” grant.
