The Appomattox Town Council held a public hearing on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 7:15 p.m. at the Appomattox Municipal Building, 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia.

Town Council Members present: Timothy W. “Timmy” Garrett, C. Lewis McDearmon, Jr., Mary Lou Spiggle, N. H. “Jimmy” Mayberry, Steven T. “Steve” Conner and Joyce B. Bennett and Mayor Paul D. Harvey.

Others: Bill Gillespie, Interim Town Manager and Roxanne W. Paulette, Clerk of Council.

Mayor Harvey called the public hearing to order.

Mr. Gillespie provided an overview of the process used to get to this point. The money being requested for financing will be used as the 45% match to the STAG grant funds of $482,200.00. The process includes a public hearing which will give citizens an opportunity to speak regarding whether the town should or should not proceed with this funding option.

Mayor Harvey stated the purpose of the public hearing.

The Appomattox Town Council will hold a public hearing pursuant to §§15.2-2606 and/or 15.2- 2636 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Appomattox Municipal Building, 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia to hear citizen comments regarding the intent by the Town of Appomattox to borrow by General Obligation Bond $650,000 to fund its portion of a $482,200 grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the construction of various water/sewer system improvements throughout the town.

No comments were received during the public hearing.

The public hearing was declared closed by Mayor Harvey.
