Public Hearing – June 9, 2008
At the Public Hearing of the Appomattox Town Council held on June 9, 2008 at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers, Appomattox Municipal Building, 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia, there present were Mayor John L. Wilson, presiding and Council members Joyce B. Bennett, N. H. “Jimmy” Mayberry, John T. “Plicky” Williams C. Lewis McDearmon, Jr., and Jennifer Jamerson-Scruggs. Absent: Steven E. Lawson. Also in attendance were Paul D. Harvey, Bryan J. Baine, Carlton Duck, Derek Norfield, Leslie C. Austin, David T. Garrett, Jr., Town Manager and Roxanne W. Paulette, Clerk.
Mayor Wilson called the public hearing to order.
Mayor Wilson stated the purpose of the hearing being held by the Appomattox Town Council pursuant to §58.1-3321 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, the on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 7:00 pm in the Appomattox Municipal Building on 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia to hear citizen comments regarding the proposed Real Property Tax Increase.
Notice of the hearing was published on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in the Times Virginian newspaper and detailed information has been available at the Appomattox Town Office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by calling 434-352-8268 for review.
There were no public comments.
Councilmember McDearmon made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Mayberry with all council members present voting “aye” to adjourn at 7:15 p.m.
