PUBLIC HEARING — May 25, 2004

A public hearing of the Appomattox Town Council was held on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Town Office with Mayor Spiggle, presiding.

Members present: W. H. Carson, N. H. Mayberry, M. H. Mitchell, C. L. McDearmon, Jr., Joyce Bennett and S. E. Lawson.

Others present: Chad Denton — Times Virginian, Christie Chapman - News & Advance, W. M. Phillips - Town Attorney, Charles Garrett, David T. Garrett, Jr. — Town Manager and Roxanne W. Paulette, Clerk.

The Proposed Fiscal Year 2004-2005 Budget having been published once on May 12, 2004 by a newspaper having general circulation in the locality affected, and given notice of one or more public hearings, at least seven days prior to the date set for the hearing, at which any citizen of the locality shall have the right to attend and state his views thereon. The hearing shall be held at least seven days prior to the approval of the budget as prescribed in §15. 2-2503, Code of Virginia.

The public hearing states that all interested persons are hereby notified that the Appomattox Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the-Appomattox Town Office on Linden Street to hear citizen comments regarding the following:

  1. Proposed FY 2005 Budget for the Town of Appomattox ~ In accordance with Section 15,2-2506 Code of Virginia, the following is a brief synopsis of the budget proposed by the Town of Appomattox for FY 2005.

GENERAL FUND EXPENDITURES $747,915.00 WATER FUND EXPENDITURES $277,300.00 SEWER FUND EXPENDITURES $709,112.00 TOTAL $1,734,327.00 GENERAL FUND REVENUE $747,915.00 WATER FUND REVENUE $277,300.00 SEWER FUND REVENUE $709,112.00 TOTAL, $1,734,327.00

  1. Proposed changes to the Water and Sewer Policy, User Charges (including water and sewer rates), Connection and Availability Fees Administrative Policy.
