The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held on Monday, May 12, 2002 with Mayor Spiggle presiding.
Those members present: Norman Mayberry, Joyce Bennett, W. H. Carson, and Marvin Mitchell. Absent — Steve Lawson and C. Lewis MéDearmon., -
- Others present were: Vivian Seay, Joe Giles, Roxanne Paulette, Deputy Clerk,
Bif Johnson, Hurt & Profitt, Pat Yeatts, Attorney for Hurt & Profitt, Marvin Hamlett, Chad Denton, Times-Virginian, William Phillips, Town Attorney, David Garrett, Town ‘Manager, and Bobbie H. Mullins, Clerk.
The meeting was opened with a prayer.
On a motion by Mr. Carson, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, Council approved the Consent
Agenda as presented and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, Council voted to approve the out of town water and sewer connection for Curtis Pearson for an automatic car wash, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried. :
On a motion by Mr. Mitchell, seconded by Mrs. Bennett, Council voted to approve the conditional use permit for an outside advertising sign in the R-2 District for Vivian Seay property on Court Street, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, Council voted to convene in
Closed Session, pursuant to Section 2.2-3711, Section A, Subsection 7, of the Code of Virginia, (1950), as amended, for the purpose of consultation with legal counsel regarding specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel.
