On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, Council voted to set the Clean

Up Weeks for April 15" to 19" and April 22" to April 26", and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.

On a motion by Mr, Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Lawson, Council voted to allow the request of Virginia Department of Transportation to use inmate labor to pick up litter on the 460 By-Pass, and clean the bridges within the Town Limits, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.

On a motion by Mr, Carson, seconded by Mrs. Bennett, Council approved the request from the Downtown Committee to close Main Street on Saturday, March 30, 2002.

Council'requested Mr. Phillips, Town Attorney, to research the Code on the question of Whether the Town can legally give $1000.00 to the Downtown Committee.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM
