Recessed and Reconvened - December 29, 1997
The recessed and reconvened meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held on Monday, December 29, 1997, at the 5:00 PM with Mayor Spiggle presiding.
Those members present: Norman Mayberry, M. H. Mitchell, S. E. Carter, Steve Lawson Absent ~R. L. Bass, Rick Pack
Others present: Ronald C. Spiggle Due ta inclement weather, the Clerk was absent.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Carter, Council voted to set the Real Estate Tax Rate at 15 per $100 of assessed value, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Carter, Council voted to set the Personal Property Tax Rate at .55 per $100 of assessed value, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Carter, Council voted to set the 98 Machinery and Tools Rate at .55 per $100 of assessed value, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Carter, Council voted to set the Town Tag Rate at $25.00 per Automobile and $24.00 for Motorcycle for 1998, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Carter, Council voted to adopt the 1998 Town Budget as presented and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr, Carter, Council voted to set the 1998 Salaries for the Town Employees as set forth in the 1998 Town Budget, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before Council the meeting adjourned at 5:40 PM on a motion by N. H. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Steve Lawson, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
