On a motion by Mr. S. E. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Bass, Council voted to approve the zoning request for J. E. Jamerson & Sons Inc to erect a building for storage and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
Percy Kidd appeared before Council to request a Conditional Use Permit for his proposed paint shop on Court Street.
On a motion by S. E. Carter, seconded by Mr. Pack, Council voted to table Mr. Kidd’s request until the next regular meeting and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.
Andy Carroll and Bill Slagle appeared before Town Council to make an IDA presentation. The sites have been narrowed from seven to two at the present.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, Council voted in
accordance with Section 2.1-344, of the Code of Virginia, Subsection 3. Acquisition of Real Property, and 5. Propective business or industry or expansion etc, of the Code of Virginia to go into Executive Session.
Bass-aye Lawson-aye Mitchell-aye Pack-aye Mayberry-aye Carter-aye Motion carried.
On a motion by Mr. Mayberry, seconded by Mr. Carter, Council voted to
reconvene into regular session in accordance with the provisions of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act; Section 21-344, of the Code of Virginia, requires certification by Council that the Executive Session conformed with Virginia
Law, Council hereby certifies that only such public business matters as identified
in the motion to go into Executive Session were discussed. The motion was passed with the following recorded vote,
Ayes - Bass, Lawson, Mayberry, Mitchell, Carter, Pack, Noes - None
On a motion by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pack, Council voted to have a wooden rail installed in Council Chambers at an approximate cost of $2800.00 and all:those present voting aye. Motion carried.
