Regular Meeting - July 11, 1988 be.

The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held on Monday, July 11, 1988, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Spiggle presiding.

Those members present: W. H. Carson, R. L. Bass, Marvin Mitchell, S. E. Carter, and H. W. Conner. Absent - R. C. Hubbard.

Others present: H. T. Nash, Sr., Hugh Radcliffe, and Bobbie Mullins, Clerk.

The meeting was opened with a prayer.

On a motion by Mr. Bass, seconded by Mr. Carson, Council adopted the Agenda with one addition of New Business: 2. Water Availability and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.

Harold Nash, Superintendent of Public Works, appeared before Council to discuss the water availability in the Town of Appomattox. Mr. Nash and the Mayor will continue to work on this situation.

Mr. Hugh Radcliffe, representing skateboarders, appeared before Council regarding the skateboarding on Town Streets. @G@ouncil was of the opinion that the problem seems to have quieted down now and they will not enact an ordinance at this time.

On a motion by Mr. Bass, seconded by Mr. Conner, Council approved the Council minutes of the June 13, 1988, meeting and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.

Mayor Spiggle presented the letter as drawn up by Bernard C. Proctor, P.E., to notify the citizens of the proposed sewer rate and why we have to raise rates.

On a motion by Mr. Carter, seconded by Mr. Carson, Council voted to go into Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344, of the State Code to discuss Personnel, and all those members present voting aye. Motion carried.

There being no further business to come before Council the meeting, recessed and will reconvene on July 25, 1988, at 7:00 P.M.
