On a motion by Mr. Hubbard, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, Council approved the. Financial Statement for April 1988, and all those present voting aye. Motion carriéd.

On a motion by Mr. Carter, seconded by Mr. Conner, Town Council adopted a resolution with the Town of Pamplin and the County of Appomattox to apply for a "Litter Grant". See attached copy.

Bass-aye Carter-aye Conner-aye Hubbard-aye Mitchell-aye Webb-aye Motion carried.

On a. motion by Mr. Carter, seconded by Mr. Webb, Council voted to table Item 3, Old Business, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.’

On a motion by Mr. Hubbard, seconded by Mr. Webb, Council voted to authorize Mayor Spiggie and Mr. Bass to check over the two bids’ for painting the 100,000 gallon water tank and the award the bids accordingly. Motion carried.

On a motion by Mr. Hubbard, seconded by Mr. Conner, Council voted to table Item 1, New Business until more information could be obtained, and all those present voting aye. Motion carried.

Mr. Carter reported Mr. Bookie Johnson has requested Council's opinion on a "Pay Phone" at the Town Ball Park. Some discussion followed but it was felt that we wouldn't have a chance to get one installed.

_ Mayor Spiggle reported on the progress with the Farmers Market. He has

decided to appoint a Committee of some local farmers, Shirley Wal ton, and see how much interest this generates.

Mr. Proctor presented his facts concerning the drainage problem on South Ghurch Street. After talking with Mr. Edgely of the Highway Department's,

approval of the plan drawn by Harold and Mr. Bass.

There being no further business to come before Council, the meeting adjourned at.9:50 P.M.
