ref: reel030728 date: 1980-06-02 content: Special Call June 2, 1980 A special call of Council was held on Monday, June 2, 1980, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Spiggle presiding.
Those members present were: R. C. Hubbard, T. W. Lawson, S. E. Carter, M. E. Gordon, T. E. Conner, and R. L. Bass.
Also present were Ray Noble and W. H. Carson, Councilmen-Elect, James C. May & Bill Berkley, Bill Sherrod, Joyce Sweet, Debbie Rush, W. R. Britton, Jr., and B. H. Mullins, Clerk.
Ms. Joyce Sweet and Debbie Rush appeared before Council to formally request permission to use the Depot for 'Depot Dramatics.'
On a motion by Mr. Conner, seconded by Mr. Carter, Council voted to give the 'Depot Dramatics' permission to use the Depot for three nights a week with some stipulations which are:
- They provide their own liability insurance
- Clean-up and general maintenance be provided by them.
- The months of June, July, August, be the only months of use by them.
Conner-aye Carter-aye Gordon-aye Bass-aye Hubbard-aye Lawson-aye Motion carried.
Council discussed at great length the different Alternatives presented to them by May-Hines & Associates.
On a motion by Mr. Bass, seconded by Mr. Hubbard, Council voted to accept Alternative No. 5, as amended to include a pumping station and moving the site to Continental Can Property, presented by May-Hines & Associates, in a letter dated May 28, 1980, and attached to these minutes; and authorized the Engineers to proceed with the 'Addendum' at a not to exceed fee of $2,500.00 as stated in their letter to Council dated June 2, 1980 and attached to these minutes. Conner-aye Gordon-aye Carter-aye Bass-aye Hubbard-aye Motion carried unanimously. NOTE: Mr. Lawson left the meeting at 8:00)
At this time the Mayor called for an Executive Session as set forth in Section 2.1-344 and called for in the Town Code.
Mr. Conner made the motion, seconded by Mr. Gordon, to go into executive session to discuss personnel agreements, and all members voted aye.
