ref: reel030726 date: 1980-05-12 content: A request from the "Senior Class" for the Town to pass a resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Highways to erect four directional signs for the Appomattox County High School was presented to Council.
On a motion by Mr. Carter, seconded by Mr. Conner, the following resolution was adopted:
WHEREAS, the Appomattox Town Council is concerned with the traffic problem caused by the lack of information in the direction of out of Town visitors to the Appomattox County High School; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council has been approached to install directional signs to the Appomattox High School; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Appomattox Town Council request the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation to install directional signs to the Appomattox County High School;
- At the intersection of Rt. 460 and Rt. 635.
- At the intersection of Rt. 635 and Rt. 1002.
- At the intersection of Rt. 727 and Rt. 641.
Conner-aye Carter-aye Gordon-aye Hubbard-aye Lawson-aye Bass-aye Motion carried.
At this time the Mayor asked for an Executive Session as set forth in Section 2-1.344 to discuss personnel problems.
On a motion by Mr. Conner, seconded by Mr. Lawson, the Council voted to go into executive session and all members voted aye.
The Mayor then reconvened the meeting.
On a motion by Mr. Bass, seconded by Mr. Conner, Council voted to establish a Standing Committee for Public Safety in the form of an ordinance to be added to the Town Code.
