Special committee meeting was held on July 20, 1979, at 5:30 P.M.
Members present were M. E. Gordon, T. E. Conner, and R. C. Hubbard. Also attending was Dr. J. C. May and Town Manager, W. R. Britton, Jr.
On a motion by Mr. Hubbard, seconded by Mr. Conner, and all voting aye, to recommend to Council that 120 feet of Linden Street, 350 feet of Atwood Street, from Lee Street to Highland Avenue; 600 feet of Highland Avenue, from Atwood Street to Church Street, and 250 feet of Harrell Street be turned over to Virginia Department of Highways for the Town allotment for 1980.
Discussion followed on Harrell Street from Lee Street to Church Street. The Committee agreed with Dr. May's recommendation on the changes to the existing plan.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15.

PROPERTY COMMITTEE
A Special call of the Appomattox Town Property Committee was held July 24, 1979, at 6:30 P.M. in the Appomattox Town Hall.
Members present were T. E. Conner, Chairman, Samuel Carter, and T. W. Lawson. Also attending was Town Manager, W. R. Britton, Jr.
The Appomattox Town Council referred to the Property Committee, the review of the bids on a 4-Door Sedan, A.M. Radio, A.C., and 6 or 4 cylinder car for the use of the Town Manager, and back-up car for the Police Department.
Bids were received from Lawson Ford, Inc. and Moses Motor Company, Inc. (See attached bid sheets).
The Committee discussed the bids and recommended that an economical car be purchased. The reasons were gas economy, re-sale value, and setting an example for the citizens.
The motion was made by Mr. Carter, seconded by Mr. Lawson, and all voting aye, to recommend to Council the purchase of a 1980 Citation, with the trade-in of the Town's 1975 Chevrolet, for a price of $5400.00 being the difference.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:05 P.M.
