June 21, 1971 Meeting Minutes

ref: reel020592 date: 1971-06-21 content: The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held in the Council room on June 21, 1971 at 6:30 P.M. with Mayor H. B. Pack presiding.

Members present were Mrs. Calvin Robinson, T. E. Conner, Burke Quill, Ivey Holland, R. C. Hubbard, & M. L. Webb.

The Mayor took the Council members on a tour of the Town properties. Places visited and inspected were the Town sanitary fill, the sewage treatment plant, Wells No. 6, 5, and 1, the Lagoon, and the 100,000 gallon water tank.

Upon return to the Council room, the minutes of the last regular meeting and called meeting were read and approved.

The Mayor gave a detailed report on the condition of the sewage treatment facilities and plans for improving them.

Conner requested that wrecked cars be screened from sight of public roads, that burned out buildings be torn down; that the exhaust from Jeannes Restaurant be cleaned up; that old refrigerators at Ed Harveys store have the locks taken off; and that the Highway be requested to make a study of accidents on Highway 460 on the west side of the Town.

Burke reported that street lights have been installed on Ferguson Street at Morton Lane, and on Confederate Blvd. opposite the High School Shop.

The meeting adjourned.
