ref: reel020568 date: 1970-08-17 content: The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held in their room on August 17, 1970 at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor H. B. Pack presiding.
Members present were: Mrs. Calvin Robinson, Burke Guill, Ivey Holtland, R. C. Hubbard, and M. L. Webb.
Mrs. Robinson reported that 4 new Christmas decorations have been ordered.
The Council decided to be sure that all of the Town employees want to go under the Supplemental Retirement System before requesting a survey.
Holtland moved and Guill seconded that the request of Mr. R. H. Wooldridge for rezoning his property on Linden and Burke Streets for B-1 to R-2 be referred to the Planning Commission along with any others for their recommendation; and also to authorize a joint public hearing. Motion carried.
The Health Department has approved the Town water system.

Committee Meeting
The Fire and Police Committee met in the Council Room on September 9, 1970 at 7:30 P.M.
Present were M. L. Webb, Chairman, Mrs. Calvin Robinson, and Burke Guill.
Mr. H. B. Pack and C. S. Booth were present.
Applications for Town Police Officers from James R. Ford, Jr., Calvin A. Motley, and Henry M. Stanley, Jr. were considered.
The job will be full time with officer on call. Mr. James R. Ford, Jr. was appointed. The annual salary is to be $6150.00.
