ref: reel020567 date: 1970-07-20 content: The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held in the Council Room on July 20, 1970 at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor H. B. Peek presiding. Members present were Mrs. Calvin Robinson, Burke Guill, and R. C. Hubbard. The meeting was opened with a prayer. Hubbard requested a report on the lease of the Ball Park to the Appomattox County Youth Association. The Town Manager reported that the lights have been repaired, and a new pump installed in the well, and that the lease has been signed. Hubbard moved and Mrs. Robinson seconded: That the Town pay for six employees to take flu shots as a means of reducing sick leave. Motion carried. The Mayor discussed the possibility of the Town employees going under the Virginia Supplemental Retirement System. The Manager was instructed to get the necessary information. Mrs. Robinson moved and Hubbard seconded: That the Town buy 4 Christmas decorations, with 2 being put on Main Street and 2 on Church Street. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned. Signed H. B.
