ref: reel020550 date: 1969-09-15 content: The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held in the Council Room on September 15, 1969 at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor H.B. Peck presiding.
Members present were Mrs. Calvin Robinson, R.L. Bass, Burke Guill, Lucy Holland, R.F. Hubbard, and H.L. Webb.
The meeting was opened with a prayer.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Guill moved and Hubbard seconded: 'That the Virginia Department of Highways be requested to install a traffic light on Highway No. 460 at the intersection of Church Street No. 131 in the Town of Appomattox.' Motion unanimously carried.
Holland moved and Hubbard seconded: 'That Mayor and Town Manager be given authority to do whatever is necessary to collect back taxes, and if necessary to hire a new attorney.' Motion carried unanimously.
Bass moved and Mrs. Robinson seconded: 'That an eight inch water line be laid in Confederate Blvd. to serve the proposed new sub-division.' Motion carried.
Bass moved and Guill seconded: 'That the Town run the water and sewer lines in Ethel Street to the Town limits to connect with the lines for Hickory Street.' Motion carried.
Bass moved and Webb seconded that the Town bear $132.00 of the County share of the membership cost in the Regional Planning Commission. Motion carried.
