June 16, 1969 Meeting Minutes

ref: reel020542 date: 1969-06-16 content: The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council was held in the Council Room on June 16, 1969, at 7:30 P.M., with Vice-Mayor Mrs. Calvin Robinson presiding.

Other members present were R. L. Bass, Burlee Guill, Ivey Holland, R. C. Hubbard, and M. L. Webb.

The meeting opened with a prayer.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Mr. L. E. Ayer and Mrs. S. D. Waddell appeared before the Council and requested that a guard rail be erected on Evergreen Avenue for the protection of people and property against reckless drivers. The matter was referred to the Street Committee for a report.

Webb reported that a complaint had been made about the rats on Main Street near Court Street. It was decided that Webb and Hubbard would contact the Health Department about the matter.

Bass requested information about the status of the purchase of a new chassis for the Fire Department tank truck. Information is being assembled prior to taking bids.

Guill moved and Bass seconded that the Virginia Department of Highways be requested to surface treat Annie and Fishman Street. Motion carried unanimously.

The Town Manager reported that the lot next to the lagoon has been mowed and that $5000.00 water bonds have been paid.
