ref: reel020534 date: 1969-02-17 content: The regular meeting of the Town Council was held in the Council Room on February 17, 1969 at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor H. D. Peed presiding.
Council members present were Mrs. Calvin Robinson, R. L. Bass, Burlee Guill, Ivey Holland, and H. L. Webb.
The meeting opened with a prayer.
The minutes of the last regular meeting, the Street Committee meeting and called Council meeting, were read and approved.
Guill reported that the Street Committee had checked and approved the new House Number Directory.
Guill reported that he has approved two new street lights, one on North Avenue, and the other at Lucy and Martha Streets.
Bass moved and Mrs. Robinson seconded: That the following revision be made to the Town Code:
Chapter 16, Article I
Sec. 16-6 Maintenance of Private Water & Sewer Facilities
All persons shall at all times, keep and maintain their private water and sewer facilities in good and sanitary condition. No one shall install a sewer septic tank within the Town without prior approval of the Town Council, and then only in accordance with the instructions from the Council.
This ordinance shall be effective on the publication in the Times-Virginian newspaper. Motion carried.
Mrs. Robinson moved and Holland seconded that the request for a building permit from the Times-Virginian to build a building at 507 N. Court Street be approved. Motion carried.
Mrs. Robinson moved and Guill seconded that a building permit be issued to the Appomattox Officers, Inc. to build a doctors office building at 301 N. Court and 300 Lee Ave. be approved. Motion carried.
