August 21, 1967 Meeting Minutes

ref: reel020467 date: 1967-08-21 content: The regular meeting of the Town Council was held in the Council Room on August 21, 1967, at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor H. E. Pack presiding.

Council members present were: Mrs. Calvin Robinson, Burke Guill, Ivey Holland, R. C. Hubbard, and R. L. Wingfield.

Mrs. Myrtle Scruggs and Mrs. Elizabeth Reynolds appeared before the Council requesting that trailer courts be banned from residential areas. In the past, Mrs. Scruggs has given the Town easements for sewer lines and is planning to give the Town an easement for a water line across her property.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Hubbard reported that the sanitary fill is in good condition.

Guill reported that signs limiting parking on the west side of Church Street between Confederate Boulevard and Highland Avenue have been erected. He also said that the Robert E. Lee Private School wants to have their lights billed to the Town at the Town rate, and they reimburse the Town. Motion made and carried that this be done if satisfactory to VEPCO.

Guill reported that needed street lights will be erected on First Street near Virginia Avenue, and on Edgewood Street.

Mayor Pack thanked Councilman Wingfield for his faithful and useful service to the Town during his terms of office. Councilman Wingfield did not run for re-election.

The meeting was adjourned.
