ref: reel020398 date: 1963-05-20 content: The regular meeting of the Town Council met in the Mayor's office on May 20, 1963 at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor S. R. Lawson presiding. The following members were present: Mrs. C. H. Robinson, Burke Guill, Ivey Holland, T. R. Gilbert and H. B. Pack. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Motion made by H. B. Pack, seconded by Burke Guill, that the Town make Atwood Street one way from Church to Lee Street for a period of 90 days and 2 hour parking to Mr. Hamilton. Motion Carried. Motion made by Ivey Holland, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, that the Town purchase 1 of an ad with the Board of Supervisors for one year at a cost of $20.00. Motion Carried. Motion made by H. B. Pack, seconded by Ivey Holland, that the Town work-up and gravel and tar Wembly Lane. Motion Carried. Motion made by Ivey Holland, seconded by H. B. Pack, that the Town furnish the Volunteer Firemen a Fireman's tag for 2 cars, free of charge if cars are listed in their names. Motion Carried. Motion made by H. B. Pack, seconded by Ivey Holland, that the Town transfer back to Moses Motor Co. the Fire Chief Car. Motion Carried. Motion made by Ivey Holland, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, that the Town prepare a Resolution endorsing Mr. Larry McWaine for Highway Commissioner, copy to be sent to the Governor of Virginia and Mr. McWaine. Motion Carried. Motion made by Ivey Holland, seconded by H. B. Pack, that the Town donate to the Civil War Committee $100.00 to help pay expenses. Motion Carried. Motion made by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, seconded by T. R. Gilbert, that the Town furnish water to the American Legion Hall. Motion Carried. Motion made by H. B. Pack, seconded by T. R. Gilbert, that the Town give a permit for 2 trailers, for Mrs. Reynolds; one for C. Lewis McDearmon; one for Mrs. Bertha Guill; one for Mrs. A. T. Inge to tap the Town Sewer system. Motion Carried.
