ref: reel020388 date: 1962-04-16 content: APRIL MEETING 1962 The regular meeting of the Appomattox Town Council met in the Mayor’s office on April 16, 1962 at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor S. R. Lawson presiding. The following members were present: C. Lewis McDearmon, Ivey Holland, H. B. Pack, T. R. Gilbert and W. G. H. Robinson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Motion made by T. R. Gilbert, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, that the Town install a street light on point at Anderson Mill Road and Martha Street and one light on Court Street at Mrs. C. K. Hunter’s driveway. Motion carried.
Motion made by H. B. Pack, seconded by C. Lewis McDearmon, that the two lights at Appomattox High School be changed to 7000 Mercury Vapor Lights and install two lights at the Elementary School, one on this pole already there and install one new pole. Motion carried.
Motion made by W. G. H. Robinson, seconded by Ivey Holland, that Harry Israel and Harold Nash’s salaries be raised $19.00 per month, effective May 1, 1962. Motion carried.
Motion made by Ivey Holland, seconded by H. B. Pack, that the Town renew the option for the Appomattox Ball Park to the Appomattox Ball Park Association. Motion carried.
Motion made by Ivey Holland, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, that a NO PARKING sign be put on the School side of Church St., from the Dormitory to 460 from 1 P.M. to 6 A.M. Motion carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.

MAY MEETING The regular meeting of the Town Council met in the Mayor’s office on May 21, 1962 at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor S. R. Lawson presiding. The following members were present: C. Lewis McDearmon, H. B. Pack, J. T. Almond, Ivey Holland and T. R. Gilbert.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Motion made by H. B. Pack, seconded by J. T. Almond that the NO Parking signs that were put up on the school side of Church Street from the Dormitory to 460 be changed to the other side of Church Street. Voting for: H. B. Pack, J. T. Almond.
