ref: reel020383 date: 1961-12-18 content: The regular meeting of the Town Council met in the Mayor's Office on December 18, 1961 at 7:30 PM with Mayor S. R. Lawson presiding. The following members were present: J. T. Almond, Mrs. C. H. Robinson, T. R. Gilbert, Ivey Holland and G. Lewis McDearmon, H. B. Pack.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Motion made by G. Lewis McDearmon, seconded by Ivey Holland, that the Town put in a check valve in Thomas E. Moore's sewer line. Motion Carried.
Motion made by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, seconded by H. B. Pack, that the Town approve two street lights on Highway 460; one at the Cannery and one between Jesse Gutt's Motel and West End Market with Vapor Mercury Lights. Motion Carried.
Motion made by H. B. Pack, seconded by T. R. Gilbert, that the Town change the street lights from Lee Grantly to 460, on Church Street and Main Street to 3300 Vapor Mercury, except one light at corner of Main and Church St., that one be 7000 Vapor Mercury. Motion Carried.
Motion made by Ivey Holland, seconded by H. B. Pack, that the Budget for 1962 be adopted as prepared by the Finance Committee. Motion Carried.
Motion made by G. Lewis McDearmon, seconded by Ivey Holland, that the Town of Appomattox rent for one month, a radar set and try it out. Voting against: H. B. Pack, J. T. Almond, T. R. Gilbert. Voting for: Ivey Holland, G. Lewis McDearmon, Mrs. C. H. Robinson--Mayor voting for. Motion Carried.
