September 21, 1959 Meeting Minutes

The regular meeting of the Town Council met in the Mayor's Office on September 21, 1959, at 7:00 P.M., with Mayor Chas. T. Moses, Jr., presiding.

The following members were present: J. T. Almond, Mrs. C. H. Robinson, Dr. S. R. Lawson, Randolph Gilbert, Ivey Holland and H. B. Pack.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

A Motion was made by Ivey Holland seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson that H. B. Pack be elected the new member of the Town Council. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Randolph Gilbert seconded by H. B. Pack, that Mrs. C. H. Robinson be made President of the Council. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Ivey Holland seconded by Dr. S. R. Lawson, that the Town Manager be authorized to purchase the necessary supplies for the Sewer Plant. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Mrs. C. H. Robinson seconded by J. T. Almond, that the Town purchase Mr. Burks 2 pairs of trousers. Motion carried.

Motion was made by H. B. Pack, seconded by Dr. S. R. Lawson, that the two Town Employees be offered $5.00 per week to clean up the streets on Sunday A.M. Motion carried.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned to meet again on the regular meeting date of October 19, 1959.

SPECIAL MEETING

A special meeting of the Town Council met in the Mayor's Office on October 5, 1959 at 7:30 P.M., with Mayor Chas. T. Moses, Jr. presiding.

The following members were present: J. T. Almond, Dr. S. R. Lawson, H. B. Pack, Randolph Gilbert and Ivey Holland.

The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the connection of Wembly Lane and Sunnyside Avenue.

Motion was made by H. B. Pack, seconded by Ivey Holland, that the decision of the connection of Wembly Lane and Sunnyside Avenue be tabled until the regular meeting on the 19th of October. Voting for: J. T. Almond, Ivey Holland, Dr. S. R. Lawson, and H. B. Pack. Voting against: Randolph Gilbert. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Ivey Holland, seconded by H. B. Pack, that Mr. Mitchell be asked to tone down the telephone bell on the front of the Town Office as it is too loud. Motion carried. chunkid: 19840 recordid: 860 page_number: 1
