ref: reel020323 date: 1957-03-18 content: The regular meeting of the Town Council met in the Mayor's Office on March 18, at 7:30 P.M., with Mayor Richard D. Robinson presiding. The following members were present: J. T. Irby, G. B. Smith, T. Hunter Dickerson, J. C. Caldwell, W. S. Gillis, and Mrs. C. H. Robinson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Motion was made by T. Hunter Dickerson, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson that the Town agrees to install sidewalks when the State has straightened the lower end of Church Street suitable to install a walk, also when the Town funds and right-of-way are available to do so. Motion carried.
Motion was made by T. Hunter Dickerson, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson that the Town grade, tar and gravel the remainder of the east side of High Street to Isbell Street as soon as it can be done. Motion carried.
Motion was made by G. E. Smith, seconded by J. C. Caldwell, that the Town of Appomattox accept the bid of the Steel Tank & Service Company of Charlotte, N.C. in the amount of $1290.00 to clean and paint the 100,000 gal. water tank. Motion carried.
