A special meeting of the Town Council was held in the Mayor's Office on February 20, 1957, at 7:45 P.M., with Mayor Richard D. Robinson presiding.
The following members were present: J. T. Irby, T. Hunter Dickerson, J. C. Caldwell, G. E. Smith, W. S. Gillis and Mrs. C. H. Robinson.
J. C. Caldwell moved, seconded by G. E. Smith as follows: That if Town Officer E. T. Mitchell does not submit his resignation to the Town Mayor resigning as such Town Officer by March 31, 1957, that his services as such Town Officer be as of March 31, 1957, terminated forthwith. All members present consenting to action and a vote being taken on this motion. A vote was called and four (4) members voted aye and two (2) members voted no.
A Motion was made by J. C. Caldwell seconded by J. T. Irby, That the Town of Appomattox install a sewer line from Wallace Harris's to Mr. E. E. Mann's on Lee Grant Avenue, also put in a sewer line on Sunnydale Ave., from William Burkes property line to the Main sewer line on this street. Motion carried.
Motion was made by G. E. Smith, seconded by W. S. Gillis, That the new street from the W. W. Burke property to South Church Street be named Sunnydale Avenue. Motion carried.
