The regular meeting of the Town Council met in the Mayor's Office on December 17, 1956, at 7:30 P.M., with Mayor Richard D. Robinson presiding.
The following members were present: J. T. Irby, T. Hunter Dickerson, W. S. Gills, J. C. Caldwell, G. E. Smith and Mrs. C. H. Robinson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
A Motion was made by J. T. Irby that the Town give $12.50 for the Christmas Star. This motion was not seconded.
A motion was made by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, seconded by W. S. Gills that the Town pay the bill for the Christmas Star put up by the Fire Co., not to exceed $25.00. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Mrs. C. H. Robinson, seconded by J. T. Irby that the Town give $5.00 each to the volunteer Firemen Co.; to be paid to W. E. Hancock, Chief, for the 14 Firemen. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Chairman G. E. Smith, seconded by J. C. Caldwell that the proposed budget for 1957 be approved as submitted by the Finance Committee. Motion carried.
A Motion was made by G. E. Smith, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson that the Treasurer pay all bills and salaries on December 24 for the month of December. Motion carried.
A Motion was made by T. Hunter Dickerson, seconded by W. S. Gills that the Town continue to answer fire calls outside of the Corporate Limits until January 31, 1957. Motion carried.
A Motion was made by J. T. Irby seconded by J. C. Caldwell that Mr. E. T. Mitchell be charged for electricity used at his house beginning December 25, 1956, at the regular rate. Motion carried.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned to meet again on the regular meeting date of January 21, 1957.
