A motion made by Chas. F. James, seconded by Mrs. C. H. Robinson to contact C. Lewis McDearmon to see if he would rent an out lot for Wooten Milling Company. Voting for the motion were Chas. F. James, Mrs. C. H. Robinson, Grover Smith, voting against the motion were J. T. Almond, and J. E. Jamerson.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned to meet again on the regular meeting date July 20, 1953.

A special meeting of the Appomattox Town Council met in the Mayor's Office on July 8, 1953, with President Mrs. C. H. Robinson presiding. The following members were present: Chas F. James, J. E. Jamerson, C. T. Moses, Jr., and G. E. Smith.
The resignation of G. B. Buchanan, Mayor was read to become effective as of this date. A motion was made by J. E. Jamerson, seconded by C. T. Moses Jr., that Mayor G. B. Buchanan's resignation be accepted. Motion carried.
A motion was made by J. E. Jamerson, seconded by G. E. Smith that Chas. F. James, be appointed Mayor to fill out the unexpired term of Mayor G. B. Buchanan's. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Chas. F. James, seconded by G. E. Smith that C. C. Poe be appointed as councilman to fill out the unexpired term of Chas. F. James' effective as of this date. Motion carried.
